Amelia A. Ragan
Amelia A. Ragan is a Partner at Legare, Attwood & Ragan, LLC. She has dedicated her practice to protecting employees’ rights in the workplace and helping employees enforce those rights when necessary. Amelia serves as lead counsel in employment litigation matters in state and federal courts, mediations, and arbitrations on claims of race, age, gender, pregnancy, national origin, religion, and disability discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, contract disputes, and violations of the Family Medical Leave Act. She also negotiates and advises on employment contracts, separation agreements, and non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
Amelia serves on the Board of the Georgia Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association and is chair of its EEOC and Amicus Committees. She also serves on the Board of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section.
Amelia is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is licensed to practice in the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of the United States, and Georgia Superior, Appeals, and Supreme Courts.
Amelia graduated from the University of Tennessee with degrees in Political Science and Sociology. She received her Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School, where she served as the editor-in-chief of the John Marshall Law Journal and led the Journal to publish its first multi-volume edition. During law school, Amelia received the prestigious Salomon Award and the Custer-Tuggle Award for her academic performance and the Outstanding Graduate Award for her commitment and contributions to ethics and social consciousness in the legal profession.
In her spare time, you’ll find Amelia enjoying the outdoors with her husband, daughter, son, and cairn terrier. She is an avid Tennessee Volunteers fan, a theatre and music enthusiast, and an aspiring genealogist.
