What Is the EEOC, and How Can it Help Me?

What Is The EEOC, And How Can It Help Me?

The EEOC has two offices in Georgia:  a district office in downtown Atlanta and a local office in Savannah.  Filing an EEOC Charge of Discrimination is the first step for private sector employees to bring a claim of discrimination against a private sector business.  Government employees have a different but similar EEO process.

The EEOC process begins with filling out an EEOC Questionnaire.  If you are able to obtain representation, an attorney will review the questionnaire with you and may want to prepare a Charge of Discrimination with you.  The EEOC can also help you prepare the Charge.  Statutes of Limitations apply and differ by state law.  In order for many types of discrimination claims to be viable, you must file your charge in a timely manner.  For more information on timeliness, contact the EEOC.  If you think you have been discriminated against and want to know more, contact us.
